Resourcing OUR Foods
What is a pig Parfait?
What it is not is SLOP!
We do not "slop our hogs". Several years ago during a health check up with our large animal vet we were given the advice to feed our pigs as colorful of a diet as we can. Our goal is to resource from local producers and food business and bring to our stock a diet of grains, dairy and fresh veggies; a human diet. PENN STATE . The food is sorted 2x a week into 50 gallon barrels (that are recycled from a local producer) with 3 layers of the different foods (parfait!!). The barrel is then loaded on to a tractor by a 99 lb wet, stringy muscle-bond "pig master" and Herd Chief ( and whatever other hat needed), my daughter IVY...The pig are now trained to follow the tractor they like our treats so much.
